The Athlete is a painting where the artist is willing to emphasize the subordination of the central command of the human body and other strong intelligent hierarchies to the strongest forms and periphery and moving parts to the weakest. Here we see the Athlete's head made of triangular forms, his chest of modified squares, his pelvis made of pentagons and his limbs are all octagonal-made forms. The rules of subordination and building of strength are more observable in sports than anywhere else.
